SORRY

I apologize to any of you who heard some foul language on my blog. Apparently right before a certain song played, there was some foul language. Just for the record, I did not put it there and had not heard it until just recently. I don't know how it got there, but sorry!! Hopefully it is off now. If anybody hears it, PLEASE let me know. I don't know how long it has been playing. It is a little embarrassing.

Easter with the Steens...Again

Denette and her family came to visit us in Colorado this year for Easter. When I told the kids that their cousins were coming, Lindsay said that it wasn't going to be any fun because they were all boys. (They only have one girl cousin on my side of the family). Lindsay LOVED having them there. They had a lot of fun. They were sad to see them leave. Lindsay also asked why we always have to celebrate Easter with the Steen family. We were with them last year also. My kids are not used to spending a lot of time with my family in Utah because we haven't really lived very close to them. Now since we are in Denver, I hope my family doesn't get sick of us. Here is the gang after the egg hunt in our back yard.
Here they are coloring the eggs. They had a lot of fun!
Hannah had to be out there with the kids looking for eggs. Next year she will be hunting for the eggs.

We did some rock climbing at the Rec Center since the weather was kind of cold. We did try to fly kites later on, but the wind was so bad you couldn't get the kites to stay up. We had to say we tried because flying kites is an Easter thing. Dave was practicing for a trip he was taking to Zion National Park with some friends to do some hiking and rappelling.
Sammie wouldn't climb the big wall, but she loved goofing around on the small one.
Lindsay really loved climbing. This is her and Wyatt climbing together. She never made it to the top, but kept trying. It was a lot of fun to have Denette's family stay with us. The boys tried to all sleep in the same room until Davis (2) and Porter (3) kept hitting each other with pillows and laughing. What fun memories we will have.

Cake Decorating Class

A friend of mine asked me if I wanted to take a cake decorating class with her and I agreed to do it. I don't think either of us realized what this class would entail. I have homework in this class. I don't know how much crisco and powdered sugar I have gone through in the last 2 months. Actually, I don't want to know. I have learned a lot, but it does take a lot of time. I am finished with the first 2 courses and have 3 and 4 to go. Two more months of this and I will be a pro (so I am told).
This is the first cake I did in class. Did you notice that the lettering is not centered? It really bugged me after I did it, but I couldn't fix it. It still bothers me when I look at the picture.

This is cake #2. I think i am getting a little better. The test is to see if you can identify each item in the squares.
Cake #3. I was pretty pleased with this one. It looks simple, but still a lot of work.
Cake #4 took 3 classes to prepare for. We made each of those flowers and some of the leafs before hand and put it all together the last day of class. I was kind of proud of myself. The kids loved it and enjoyed eating the flowers. I will post more as they come. Who knows, maybe I will do my girls' wedding cakes. ha ha :)

Happy Birthday Dave!!

Happy Birthday Dave!! I can't believe you are 38 (oops I mean 35) years old. For those of you who know my husband well, he LOVES Hostess cupcakes. He is the hardest person to buy for. He always tells me he has everything he needs. All he wants is to take is lovely wife to dinner. I think I could buy cases and cases of these cupcakes and he would be so happy! (And so would his kids.)
We are so fortunate to have moved closer to the Anthony's. They came over to celebrate Dave's birthday with us. Thanks guys. Jenni is taking the picture for us.

I don't think there are enough candles on this cake! (Don't you love the messy counter in the background. I wish I could say it is usually clean, but more times it is not). I am taking a cake class through Wilton and this is the first cake I attempted to make ever... lets just say it looks good far away.
Dave, you are the best. Thanks for all that you do. Thanks for always making us laugh and taking care of us. We love you.
